I wonder what would happen if instead of blocking H-1B visas, they put a price floor on all lecture positions that incentivised hiring locally (why go through the trouble of going through the H-1B process when you will pay the same regardless).
Almost as if it would be nice if we had a real minimum wage.
Texas has now paused H1B in state universities. They were using this for low lecturing roles.
